Our Kingdom is located on the western shore of La Mar Talossan (Lake Michigan), surrounded by the U.S. city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but today most of our active citizens live in other parts of the United States and Canada, Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, and Africa.

The Kingdom of Talossa was established as a constitutional monarchy, and it now has political parties, a judicial system, and a royal family. It doesn’t stop there though; this micronation also has a fictional pre-history, culture, holidays, newspaper, and a constructed Gallo-Romance language with over 28,000 words. It is considered to be one of the most detailed fictional languages, and Talossa, officially the Kingdom of Talossa (Talossan: Regipäts Talossan [ˈred͡ʒipæt͡s tɐɫɔˈsan] ()), is the name of a micronation founded in 1979 by then 14-year-old Robert Ben Madison of Milwaukee.It is one of the oldest micronations still in existence. The Kingdom of Talossa was founded on December 26, 1979 by Robert Ben Madison, a 14 year-old resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, shortly after the death of his mother. At that time the kingdom occupied Madison's bedroom, and Madison adopted the name "Talossa" for it after discovering that the word means "inside the house" in Finnish.
